
The Austrian Cultural Forum in Budapest hosted and took the presidency of a formation of a EUNIC branch in Hungary, where Finn Andersen, vice president of EUNIC's leadership in Brussels and the Secretary General of the Danish Cultural Institute gave the keynote address. Present were representatives of the Foreign Ministry and Ministry of Education and Culture Ministry in Hungary. 12 Institutes endorsed a more structured cooperation. The Austrian Cultural Forum's leader, was elected President, the Goethe Institute's director and the Danish Cultural Institute's director was selected as the 2 deputies.
The EU has appointed the next year the year of intercultural dialog. Europa Commission adopted on 10th May 2007 a declaration on the role of culture in a globalizing world. Commission finds that culture plays a central role in European integration and that Europe needs a cultural agenda.
