Dreams on Wheels /Denmark
VAM Design, 1061 Budapest, Király u. 26.
For devoted or even those less passionate and occasional cyclists, the exhibition presents a view of contemporary urban cycling culture and examples of what can be seen and more importantly experienced in Denmark.
Dreams on Wheels aims to get more people cycling around their city. It surveys best practice from Copenhagen, from cultural habit to innovative industrial design and city planning.
The Budapest version of Dreams on Wheels is part of the prologue to the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen in December 2009.
Dreams on Wheels is curated by Etikstudio with photographic contribution by Mikael Colville-Andersen. The exhibition is supported by the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Christiania in art /Denmark
VAM Design, 1061 Budapest, Király u. 26.
The exhibition Christiania in Art aims to meet the international curiosity and interest in Christiania, the freetown of Denmark, while presenting a unique part of Danish culture, that seldom appears abroad.
Christiania in Art presents a rare group portrait of very different visual artists, who work daily at the periphery of the official Danish art scene with motifs inspired by the unique cultural, natural and urban environments in Christiania. The exhibition provides information about Christiania’s history and in particular of Christiania’s longstanding work to create a green sustainable city. Environmental awareness has been an integral part of Christiania since its establishment in 1971.
Christiania has through its history evolved into a symbol of an alternative community, held by values of freedom, residents’ influence, ecology, love and non-violence.
The exhibition Christiania in Art is a tribute to the creativity in the Freetown, which hopefully will provide a future for this unique social experiment. The exhibition is curated by Jesper Boysen, Free town of Christiania Art Gallery.
